Ernest Cole's Photography


Here's an article about a black photographer who was exiled from South Africa in 1960 and whose work was banned. It's very moving. Make sure to check out the slide show that goes with it.

  1. The pictures are spectacular! I am impressed by the type of emotion they evocted. I can see why the South African government would want to ban these photos. The lengths Ernest Cole went to to document these aspects of South African daily life is daunting, but has produced such monumental footage.
